Job Description
Nuclear Material Accountancy Consultant
Join the dedicated team delivering a bespoke, cloud-based Nuclear Material Accounting & Control (NMAC) platform for a major civil-nuclear operator — a mission-critical system, built on Microsoft .NET, that tracks nuclear material and produces statutory reports to the national nuclear regulator and the IAEA. This is the domain-critical role. You will translate nuclear material accountancy regulations into a precise, buildable functional design and safeguard the accuracy of every statutory report.
What you’ll do
• Own the functional specification; translate IAEA (Code 10 labelled format, Subsidiary Arrangements) and national regulatory requirements into system design.
• Define material-movement processes (KMP/MBA accounting, inventory change, period closing, PIL/MBR/ICR).
• Validate report formats and content for regulatory correctness and sign off sample reports.
• Lead requirements workshops and bridge the operator’s Safeguards team and the developers.
• Support UAT, data-migration validation and user training.
What you’ll bring
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of nuclear material accounting and control / safeguards (IAEA and national frameworks).
• Experience with safeguards reporting (ICR, PIL, MBR) and the IAEA Code 10 labelled format.
• Strong business analysis skills: elicitation, functional specifications and process modelling.
• Precision in an environment where regulatory accuracy is non-negotiable.
Nice to have
• Prior experience implementing or replacing an NMAC / nuclear material accountancy system.
• Background at a nuclear operator, regulator or the IAEA.
• CBAP/IIBA certification.
