Job Description

Accountant Wanted | Dubai

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced accountant to join a leading educational institution in Dubai.

Job Overview

The accountant will be responsible for managing all financial operations within an educational setting, including student fee management, payroll, budgeting, auditing, and ensuring compliance with UAE financial regulations—specifically those of the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and corporate laws.

Unlike a corporate accountant, this role focuses heavily on education-sector financial processes, such as student billing cycles, fee structures, and regulatory reporting to relevant educational authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Student Fee Management
Issuing invoices, following up on payments, processing cheques, and recording new student enrollments, discounts, and scholarships using systems such as iSAMS, OpenApply, and Tally.
  2. General Accounting
Recording journal entries, reconciling bank accounts and supplier accounts, processing payroll, and monitoring operational expenses.
  3. VAT Compliance
Recording 5% VAT transactions, preparing and filing quarterly tax returns via the FTA portal, and maintaining records for a minimum of five years.
  4. Budgeting and Reporting
Preparing annual budgets and monthly management accounts for senior management and the Board of Directors, as well as submitting financial reports to the KHDA.
  5. Auditing
Coordinating with external auditors and preparing comprehensive audit files for annual financial and regulatory audits.
  6. Payroll Management
Preparing monthly payroll for over 150 employees in coordination with the Human Resources Department, while ensuring compliance with Wage Protection System (WPS) regulations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

ACCA, CPA, or CA certification preferred

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least one year in the education sector

Thorough knowledge of UAE VAT, the Wage Protection System (WPS), and accounting software (Tally / SAP / iSAMS)
