Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Senior Accountant – Cashier is responsible for managing daily cash operations, ensuring accurate recording of cash transactions, and supporting the accounting team with reconciliations, reporting, and compliance. This role ensures smooth handling of tenant collections, vendor payments, and cash management in line with UAE financial regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
Cash Management & Operations
- Manage daily cash inflows and outflows, including tenant payments, maintenance fees, and miscellaneous receipts.
- Handle petty cash and ensure proper documentation and approvals for disbursements.
- Prepare bank deposits, process cash transfers, and reconcile cash balances daily.
Accounts & Reconciliation
- Record all cash and banking transactions accurately in the accounting system.
- Reconcile cash ledger, bank accounts, and other payment modes (cheques, wire transfers, online payments).
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing by preparing cash-related schedules.
Collection & Tenant Payments
- Monitor tenant payments and ensure timely recording in the accounting system.
- Follow up on overdue payments and coordinate with the collections team.
- Support dispute resolution related to cash receipts and tenant accounts.
Reporting & Compliance
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly cash and bank reports for management review.
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws and company policies regarding cash handling.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and internal controls.
Support to Accounting Team
- Assist senior accountants and finance team with accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Provide guidance to junior cashiers or accounting staff handling cash operations.
- Identify process improvements in cash handling and payment procedures.
Educational Qualifications, Work Experience, and Skills Required:
Educational Qualification & Certifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA) is an advantage.
Work Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting with exposure to cash handling, banking, or real estate operations in UAE.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, UAE VAT, and accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software (Oracle, SAP, Zoho, QuickBooks, or similar).
