Job Description
- The General Technician plays a vital role in ensuring assigned mechanical repairs are conducted in accordance with the Principle’s established work procedures and specifications. This role requires achieving productivity and quality standards, which are crucial for the Body & Paint department’s focus on profitability and high repair quality. The technician is integral in minimizing downtime and ensuring customer satisfaction through accurate repair and quality control measures. The role also demands adherence to safety standards to maintain a conducive work environment.
What You Will Do:
Operations
- Execute assigned jobs according to established work procedures, specifications, and time standards.
- Repair damaged vehicles based on repair standards as per the vehicle Repair Manual.
- Request supplementary parts and labor approval if needed.
- Perform other tasks assigned by immediate superiors.
Quality Assurance
- Provide quality workmanship to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Conduct quality checks as necessary to ensure accuracy and minimize repeat jobs.
- Ensure 100% accuracy and minimum repeat jobs.
- Comply with ALAC Quality Management System and partake in improvement activities.
Safety and Housekeeping
- Use safety equipment/gear and follow all safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the workplace, tools, equipment, and customer’s car being serviced.
- Report any operation abnormality to Team Leader and initiate incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements to prevent harm to the environment.
Time Management
- Plan and schedule tasks when assigned with multiple jobs to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain 100% compliance with company work procedures, specifications, and time standards.
Training and Development
- Keep up with new technology, work procedures, and technical know-how to enhance productivity and quality.
- Attend all company-provided training sessions and implement the learned skills.
Discipline and Organization
- Maintain discipline through strict adherence to company rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ensure parking of Job Stoppage vehicle in designated area.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Proficiency in automotive repair and paintwork procedures.
- Ability to adhere to established quality and productivity standards.
- Knowledge of safety practices and the ability to maintain a safe work environment.
- Capability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a reputed automotive workshop.
- SSC/Trade certificate or equivalent vocational training required.
- Expertise in spray painting, color mixing, and general vehicle repair.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and procedures effectively.
