General Practitioner (GP) – Dermatology & Aesthetic

Job Summary

The General Practitioner (GP) – Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine is responsible for providing medical dermatology consultations and performing non-surgical aesthetic procedures within the scope of practice and clinical privileges approved by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). The role involves diagnosing and managing common skin conditions, delivering evidence-based aesthetic treatments, promoting skin health, and ensuring high standards of patient safety, satisfaction, and ethical practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive consultations, medical history reviews, and skin assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage common dermatological conditions, including:
    • Acne and acne scars
    • Eczema and dermatitis
    • Psoriasis
    • Fungal, bacterial, and viral skin infections
    • Urticaria (hives)
    • Pigmentation disorders
    • Hair and scalp disorders
    • Nail disorders
    • Benign skin lesions
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.
  • Prescribe medications and topical therapies in accordance with DHA regulations.
  • Refer patients with complex dermatological conditions or suspected skin malignancies to a Specialist Dermatologist.

Aesthetic Medicine Responsibilities

Perform non-surgical aesthetic procedures within the scope of DHA-approved privileges, including:

  • Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections.
  • Dermal filler injections.
  • Chemical peels.
  • Microneedling.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration.
  • Mesotherapy (where credentialed).
  • Skin rejuvenation treatments.
  • Laser and light-based treatments (subject to DHA privileges and laser certification).
  • Skin tag, wart, and benign lesion removal using approved techniques.
  • Scar management and pigmentation treatments.

Patient Care

  • Educate patients on skin health, treatment options, expected outcomes, risks, and post-procedure care.
  • Obtain informed consent before all medical and aesthetic procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Monitor treatment outcomes and schedule appropriate follow-up appointments.
  • Manage and document any treatment-related complications.

Infection Prevention & Safety

  • Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and safe handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment.
  • Adhere to medication safety and adverse event reporting procedures.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Document consultations, procedures, informed consent, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.
  • Maintain clinical photography records where appropriate and with patient consent.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons, General Practitioners, Nurses, Laser Therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists when advanced medical or surgical care is required.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and departmental meetings.

Quality & Compliance

  • Comply with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations, ethical standards, and hospital or clinic policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and accreditation activities.
  • Ensure all aesthetic procedures are performed within approved clinical privileges.
  • Maintain patient safety and clinical governance standards.

Professional Development

  • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Maintain valid DHA licensure and required certifications.
  • Stay updated with advancements in dermatology, aesthetic medicine, laser technologies, and injectables.
  • Attend mandatory training on infection control, patient safety, and emergency response.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License or DHA Eligibility Letter as a General Practitioner.
  • DHA-approved privileges or recognized training in Aesthetic Medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification in Botox, Dermal Fillers, Laser, or other aesthetic procedures is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of post-internship clinical experience.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in Dermatology and/or Aesthetic Medicine is preferred.
  • Experience performing aesthetic injectables and non-invasive cosmetic procedures.
  • Previous experience in a DHA-licensed dermatology or aesthetic clinic is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of common dermatological conditions and treatments.
  • Proficiency in non-surgical aesthetic procedures.
  • Knowledge of facial anatomy and safe injection techniques.
  • Ability to recognize and manage complications related to aesthetic procedures.
  • Excellent consultation, communication, and patient counseling skills.
  • Competency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Knowledge of DHA regulations governing dermatology and aesthetic practice.
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to patient safety.

Working Conditions

  • Outpatient dermatology and aesthetic clinic setting.
  • Standard clinic working hours with occasional evenings or weekends based on operational requirements.
