Laboratory Technician Physics | College of Arts and Sciences

The Physics Department at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the daily operations of its teaching and research laboratories.

Job Responsibilities

  • Setting up the labs.
  • Performing routine maintenance on instruments.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Managing inventory.
  • Maintaining lab instruments in good working conditions.
  • Organizing storerooms.
  • Assisting students and lab instructors during experiments

Qualifications And Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in the same setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Proactive and responsive in addressing queries and technical concerns.
  • Collaborative and supportive team player.
  • Reliable, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality.
  • Flexible and willing to work varied hours as required.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and digital tools used in laboratory settings.
  • Hands-on experience with setting up and troubleshooting general laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols.
