Payroll Accountant

As a Payroll Accountant in ZMI, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for onshore and offshore employees, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, WPS requirements, and company policies. The role is responsible for payroll administration, payroll accounting, reconciliations, statutory submissions, reporting, and employee payroll support while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Process monthly payroll for onshore and offshore employees, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely payment.

Maintain payroll master data, process salary changes, allowances, deductions, overtime, leave salary, gratuity, end-of-service benefits, and final settlements in accordance with company policies and UAE Labour Law.

Generate salary transfer files (SIF), prepare bank transfer instructions, and coordinate payroll payments with banks and relevant stakeholders within established timelines.

Maintain accurate employee and crew bank records and resolve payroll payment-related issues in coordination with banks and internal departments.

Prepare and distribute monthly payslips and respond to payroll-related employee queries in a timely manner.

Perform payroll validations, reconciliations, variance analysis, and payroll accounting activities, including payroll accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Support WPS, pension contributions, statutory submissions, year-end payroll activities, and audit requirements.

Prepare payroll, financial, and management reports and maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.

Coordinate payroll activities with HR, Finance, Crewing, ICT, and operational departments to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

Identify and implement payroll process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

Perform other payroll and accounting duties as assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a similar role, preferably with exposure to onshore and offshore payroll operations.

Knowledge of UAE payroll regulations, WPS requirements, gratuity calculations, end-of-service benefits, and payroll compliance requirements.

Understanding of offshore vessel operations and related payroll processes.

Experience working with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
