Radiology Coder – Interventional Radiology QT-10-15
Key Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for interventional radiology procedures, including vascular, non-vascular, and image-guided interventions.
- Review operative and procedure notes for correct documentation and coding compliance.
- Ensure adherence to AAPC, AHIMA, and CMS guidelines and payer-specific rules.
- Collaborate with interventional radiologists, compliance teams, and billing staff to resolve coding issues.
- Assist in denial resolution by providing coding clarification and making necessary corrections.
- Stay current with evolving NCCI edits, LCD/NCD policies, and CPT Assistant updates.
- Participate in periodic internal audits to maintain high coding accuracy.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Certification required: CPC, COC, CIRCC, RCCIR, or equivalent (AAPC/AHIMA recognized).
- Minimum 2–3 years of interventional radiology coding experience (vascular and non-vascular).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology specific to IR.
- Experience with coding for angiography, embolization, biopsies, ablations, stent placements, and other complex IR procedures.
- Proficiency in EHRs, coding/billing platforms, and claim submission software.
- High attention to detail with ability to work independently and meet productivity/accuracy benchmarks.
