Job Description

We invite applications for two Research Assistant positions within the project “Football Governance in the Middle East.” Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of the roles of key stakeholders in football governance, including institutions such as the Asian Football Confederation, the UAE Football Association, and professional clubs (e.g., Al Ain Football Club). Familiarity with major international debates, such as “soft power,” as well as key developments including the FIFA World Cups in Qatar (2022) and Saudi Arabia (2034), is required. Candidates should also possess a sound understanding of the political economy of Gulf countries and the interrelationship between sport and politics in the region.

Minimum Qualification

Currently in the third year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.

Preferred Qualification

Master’s and PhD students are preferred; however, highly qualified and motivated BA students are also encouraged to apply

Expected Skills

Essential skills include strong academic writing abilities, experience in conducting literature reviews, and the capacity to support qualitative research activities (including interview preparation and analysis). Experience in reference management is expected. Excellent command of English is required; proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset.

Salary Range

25 AED per hour for undergraduate students (40 AED for Graduate Students, 50 for PhD students)
