Research Systems Manager | Office of Research Services

The Research Systems Manager is responsible for developing and implementing research administration systems in support of research services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies on research system transaction activities.
  • Conceptualize, plan, draft, edit, and present clear, concise, relevant and accurate analytic products and presentations in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support to research administration systems function, including development of custom and automated reporting functions.
  • Provide data management expertise, and work towards automation of standard processes.
  • Train faculty and staff on research administration system related tasks.
  • Program and develop custom reports, workflow forms, configure electronic routing and approval.
  • Coordinate and support research systems integration and development as required.
  • Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications And Skills Required

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related fields.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work closely with researchers, faculty, and IT teams to align systems with academic and scientific needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills to oversee system deployments, upgrades, and integrations with minimal disruption.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in research software, databases, and cloud services.
  • Experience in training researchers on system usage and best practices.
  • Efficiently liaising with software providers, IT teams, and academic departments to ensure seamless research support.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Expertise with research management tools and ERP systems, including Pre-Award system, Oracle and Pure.
  • Collaborate with researchers to deploy and customize software for domain-specific needs.
  • Audit system permissions and conduct vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks.
