Position Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, managing project-related accounting activities, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, and providing financial insights to support management decisions. The ideal candidate should have experience in the construction, contracting, fit-out, or interiors industry and possess strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Accounting
- Manage the complete accounting cycle, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and budget utilization.
- Assist management in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and monitor company accounts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, and expense reimbursements.
- Verify payment requests and ensure proper supporting documentation.
- Manage customer invoicing, payment follow-ups, and collection processes.
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts regularly.
- Maintain healthy cash flow through effective receivable management.
Project Accounting & Cost Control
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
- Track project-related expenditures, variations, and subcontractor costs.
- Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Prepare project profitability reports and cost analysis.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks associated with projects.
VAT & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority requirements.
- Ensure proper maintenance of financial documentation and records for audits.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Stay updated on UAE accounting regulations, taxation requirements, and compliance standards.
Payroll & Administrative Support
- Assist in payroll processing and employee expense management.
- Maintain employee financial records related to salaries, benefits, and reimbursements.
- Coordinate with banks, auditors, consultants, and government authorities when required.
- Support the Finance Manager and senior management with ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
- Prior experience in Interior Fit-Out, Construction, Contracting, Engineering, or Real Estate industries is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of project accounting and cost control methodologies.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or ERP systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong understanding of UAE VAT regulations and financial compliance requirements.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
