Job Description

Designation: Senior Accountant – Contracting

Location: Dubai, UAE

Experience : Minimum 5 years UAE Experience mandatory

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong UAE construction/contracting industry experience to manage day-to-day accounting, project cost control, financial reporting, reconciliations and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with a main contractor or construction company and be comfortable independently handling accounting activities across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities including AP, AR, general ledger and journal entries.

• Maintain project-wise accounts and monitor project costs against budgets.

• Record and reconcile supplier and subcontractor invoices and payments.

• Coordinate and verify subcontractor payment certificates, advances and retention amounts.

• Maintain accurate records of project expenses, site expenses and petty cash.

• Monitor receivables, payables, ageing reports and payment schedules.

• Prepare bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.

• Support progress billing, client invoicing and collection tracking.

• Monitor project cash flows and upcoming financial commitments.

• Prepare monthly financial reports, P&L; statements and supporting management reports.

• Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.

• Handle UAE VAT accounting, reconciliations and VAT return preparation.

• Support Corporate Tax compliance and maintain required financial documentation.

• Coordinate payroll/WPS-related accounting entries and employee-related payments.

• Maintain fixed asset registers, accruals and prepayments.

• Coordinate with auditors and provide supporting schedules and documentation.

• Ensure proper filing and maintenance of invoices, payment vouchers, contracts and other accounting records.

• Coordinate closely with Procurement, Contracts, QS and Project teams for financial documentation and cost tracking.

• Support management with cash-flow forecasts, cost reports and other financial analysis as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the UAE.

• Strong preference for candidates currently or previously working with a UAE construction/main contracting company.

• Strong understanding of construction project accounting and job costing.

• Experience with subcontractor accounts, payment certificates, retention and project-related supplier payments.

• Good knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.

• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting/ERP systems.

• Ability to independently manage accounting activities with minimal supervision.

• Strong attention to detail, reconciliation and documentation skills.

• Good communication and coordination skills.
