Designation :- Tax Associate

Reporting to :- Senior Tax Manager

Job Objective :- To become a key member of the Tax Compliance team

Key Responsibilities/Duties :-

  • Engage in end-to-end preparation, data compilation, review and timely filing of UAE Corporate Tax returns, ensuring full compliance with FTA regulations and statutory deadlines.
  • Take primary ownership of Transfer Pricing compliance, including review, data compilation for Local File, Master File and TP disclosure forms, related-party transaction analysis, and benchmarking studies in line with OECD guidelines and UAE TP regulations.
  • Support the preparation and review of intercompany agreements, service level agreements and ensure transfer pricing documentation remains aligned with Group policies and UAE regulations.
  • Engage in timely preparation, review, data compilation and submission of monthly VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with FTA requirements.
  • Preparation, review and assistance in Withholding Tax, Excise Tax, Real estate Tax, Other tax compliance obligations as required within GCC or beyond as required
  • Pro-actively assist in creating and developing systems for tax audit readiness, data repository, engaging with multiple stakeholders and while being an agile team player
  • Support, assist, and be the frontend support while dealing with tax authorities and tax audits, assessments, appeals. Demonstrate advanced skills in managing people, team, tax authorities while ensuring timeline discipline and adherence
  • Serve as the tax data library owner, responsible for maintaining, updating and protecting the integrity of tax data and records across all relevant tax portals.
  • Carry out all tax-related administrative tasks such as tracking deadlines, maintaining monthly compliance calendar.
  • Assist in drafting, maintaining, and circulating Master Tax Status Report on such timely basis as required.
  • Must demonstrate deep technical knowledge in at least one to two branches of UAE Taxation, preferably UAE Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, VAT including E-invoicing rules, Excise. Multi jurisdiction tax skill set would be advantageous.
  • Display an advanced awareness of changes in tax laws specifically in UAE and generally in the GCC. Ability to undertake high-quality independent tax research, analysis, drafting, ideation, simulations and other technical analysis as necessary.
  • Coordinate with Business Units to ensure Tax Authority portal accounts are kept up to date; monitor correspondence received, maintain a log of communications, and ensure timely action or escalation in line with the escalation matrix.
  • Must have an understanding of how to use AI tools to assist in routine workflows. Ability to use AI to assist in value driven tax and regulatory research, compliance and advise.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider tax team to streamline workflows, enhance operational efficiency and support overall group compliance efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and periodic update of the Tax Report, including tracking of tax positions, key tax developments, compliance status, tax exposures and management action items. Maintain and regularly update the Tax Risk Register, identifying potential tax risks, assessing their impact
  • Support the preparation and review of tax accounting computations, tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analyses and related tax disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Group reporting requirements.
  • Assist in assessing the tax implications of cross-border transactions and international business arrangements, including the application of OECD principles, international tax standards and relevant double taxation agreements.
  • Support the monitoring and analysis of international tax developments, including OECD initiatives, BEPS measures, Pillar Two developments and other global tax reforms, and evaluate their potential impact on the Group.
  • Participate in tax planning, tax controversy management and tax governance initiatives by providing technical analysis, research support, modelling and documentation as required.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and enhancement of tax governance frameworks, internal controls, policies, standard operating procedures and risk mitigation processes across the Group.
  • Assist in identifying, documenting and managing uncertain tax positions, preparing supporting technical analyses and maintaining appropriate documentation to support the Group’s tax positions.

Ability & Skills :-

  • Strong working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax Law and Transfer Pricing regulations; sound working knowledge of UAE VAT Law.
  • Fluency in Business English (speaking, writing and comprehension) as a minimum; Arabic is considered an additional skillset but is not mandatory.
  • Strong academic record; advanced proficiency in MS Office, AI tools; hands-on experience with at least one Tax and/or accounting software.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven and self-disciplined, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and engage confidently with business teams.
  • Genuine interest in tax technology tools and in building a long-term career in taxation. Must be a strong team player.

Experience :-

  • Recently qualified professionals with around 3 years of hands-on experience in a UAE Tax Function.
  • Adequate exposure to Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing and VAT Compliance, Tax Advisory, Tax assessments, appeals, Tax Research.

Academic Qualifications :- Post graduation with Tax as a specialization; Qualified Finance Professional courses such as ACCA, CA, CPA, CMA, MBA, LLB (with Taxation), or Masters (Economics) preferred.
