Job Description


The Special Needs Teacher (also known as SEN Teacher) is responsible for teaching and supporting students with a range of physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disabilities. They create inclusive learning environments tailored to individual educational needs, ensuring each child can achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

  • Individualized Instruction:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students based on assessments and in collaboration with parents, specialists, and other educators.
  • Adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Classroom Support:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction when necessary.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive behavior strategies.
  • Promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with general education teachers, teaching assistants, therapists (e.g., speech, occupational), and school counselors.
  • Attend IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and staff development sessions.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
  • Evaluate students’ progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior.
  • Report regularly to parents and school leadership.
  • Inclusion Advocacy:
  • Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel safe, supported, and respected.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of disabilities within the school community.

Skills

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with various disabilities (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, physical impairments).
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Ability to develop creative and engaging teaching strategies.

Arabic speaker preferred
