About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive Student Counsellor to join our CBSE school in Dubai. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment. The counsellor will work closely with students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and external professionals to promote student wellbeing and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling to students experiencing academic, emotional, behavioural, or social challenges.
- Support students in developing resilience, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive interpersonal skills.
- Identify students requiring additional support and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and parents to address student concerns and monitor progress.
- Conduct classroom sessions and workshops on wellbeing, mental health awareness, bullying prevention, digital citizenship, stress management, and life skills.
- Support students during transitions, including new admissions, grade progression, and career or higher education planning where applicable.
- Maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policies and UAE regulations.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and child protection matters, following the school’s safeguarding policies and reporting procedures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to student support plans.
- Refer students to external specialists or agencies when necessary and coordinate follow-up support.
- Promote a positive school culture through wellbeing initiatives and preventive counselling programmes.
- Assist in crisis intervention and provide support during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Contribute to policy development related to student wellbeing, safeguarding, and mental health.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and case records.
Skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, School Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- Professional counselling qualification or licence recognised in the UAE is preferred.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of counselling experience, preferably in a CBSE or international school.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning needs, and behavioural intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with CBSE guidelines and student wellbeing practices is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Hindi or other Indian languages is an advantage.
