About the job

1. POSITION OBJECTIVE

Deliver, assess, and continuously enhance Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, and/or Emirati Studies courses within the relevant academic programme, combining high-quality teaching with academic support and, where research-active, scholarly contribution. This is a temporary position/part time.

2. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification: 10+ years’ experience holding a Bachelor’s / Master’s, or 5+ years post-PhD, in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, Translation, Emirati Studies, or a closely related discipline.

3. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Higher-education teaching experience as specified above (10+ years with a Master’s / 5+ years post-PhD) in a relevant discipline.
• Strong record of teaching, curriculum design, and course/module leadership.
• Experience in academic advising, mentoring, and student support.
• Deep subject-matter expertise in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, Emirati Studies, or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods research methodologies.
• Proficiency in LMS platforms such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or equivalent for blended and online delivery.
• Experience in assessment design, including formative and summative assessments, rubric development, and grade moderation.
• Experience working in the UAE/GCC and within culturally diverse learning environments.

4. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English: Business proficiency (written and spoken) – Essential; primary language of instruction and documentation.

Arabic: Fluent (written and spoken) – Mandatory.

5. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning Delivery

• Design, deliver, and assess Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, and/or Emirati Studies courses.
• Facilitate engaging, inclusive, and outcome-focused learning using varied pedagogical approaches, including in-person, online, blended, and problem-based learning.
• Prepare session plans, teaching materials, assessments, and rubrics aligned with programme and course learning outcomes.

Academic Support & Student Engagement

• Provide academic guidance, mentoring, and support to assigned students.
• Monitor student progress, identify learners requiring additional support, and refer them to appropriate academic or support services.
• Support student engagement, retention, and academic success.
