Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
- Is familiar with, and understands, the Severe Care Domains of DOH.
- Monitors the impact of nursing care and maintains ongoing communication with the Registered Nurse regarding the status of patients in their care.
- Demonstrates an understanding and utilization of Evidenced-Based Healthcare.
- Advocates in the best interest of the patient and family at all times.
- Provides education to the family regarding aspects of care as appropriate.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians/therapists with procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Adheres to dress code; appearance is professional, neat and clean.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Â
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.Â
- Is responsible to maintain up to date clinical knowledge and self-directed ongoing education.Â
- Completes annual education requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements.Â
- Attends and participates in annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.Â
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Â
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.Â
- Complies with all organizational policies.Â
Qualifications
- Graduate from a recognized nursing school (minimum 2 yrs)Â
- 1 years minimum clinical experience plus 6 months recent experience with ventilated patients (i.e. extra 6 months adult ventilated patients for adult PN’s and extra 6 months paediatric ventilated patients for paediatric PN’s)Â
- Current valid registration in country of training and/or country of last employmentÂ
- Eligible for DOH licensingÂ
