Business & Economics Teacher
Reports to: Designated School Leader

Job Purpose
To carry out the professional duties of a Business & Economics teacher in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures in order to provide high quality teaching and assessment, that leads to improved standards of learning, engagement, and achievement for all students.

Role and Responsibilities
Lesson Planning, Teaching and Learning
Planning for outstanding teaching and assessment in line with the schools Teaching & Learning and Assessment policies.
Maintaining high standards in accordance with the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, uniform, standards of work and homework (home learning).
Ensure scope and sequence, unit and lesson planning is up to date, accurate and in line with IB and school requirements.
Assessment, recording, reporting
Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learning.
Mark students work regularly, set targets for progress, and moderate, in accordance with the school’s Assessment (Marking & Feedback) policy.
Assess and record students’ progress systematically and keep records; using performance data to inform planning, teaching, intervention, student learning and progress.
Prepare and present informative reports to parents in line with Report Writing Guidelines.
Professional duties and responsibilities
Recognise the Spark of Genius in every child and endeavour to follow the Dwight vision, mission and pillars in every aspect of the role.
For Upper School – to be an Advisor or Co-Advisor and teach Moral Education.
For Upper School – the FireFly platform is kept up-to-date with planning and resources, as directed by the Head of Upper School.
To be a DP Extended Essay Supervisor / MYP Personal Project Supervisor / PYP Exhibition Supervisor, if required.
Undertake duties as part of the staff duty rota and cover for absent colleagues.
Invigilate / proctor examinations and assessments, as required.
Undertake relevant training and professional development related to the role.
Support school events and activities, including the ECA programme.
Actively collaborate in the Dwight and IB community, which includes developing strong partnerships with all stakeholders, and the local and wider community.
Any other reasonable duties and additional hours of work as assigned by the Head of School or designated school leader.
Essential requirements: Desirable requirements:
Degree in Business, Economics or related subject and qualified teacher status.
Experience and passion for teaching Business and / or Economics in an upper / high school setting.
Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB) School.
Experience teaching DP Business Management and DP Economics
