The Role: Careers & University Guidance Counsellor
We are seeking an experienced Careers & University Guidance Counsellor to support students in making informed decisions about their academic and career pathways. This role provides expert guidance on GCSE, IBDP, and IBCP options, as well as global university admissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one careers counselling and university guidance across GCSE, IBDP, and IBCP pathways.
- Advise students on subject choices and career pathways, ensuring alignment with university requirements.
- Support university applications to institutions in the UK, US, UAE, Europe, and beyond, assisting with personal statements, references, entrance requirements, and scholarships.
- Deliver careers education programs and workshops aligned with Gatsby Benchmarks.
- Use careers guidance platforms like Unifrog to support student career planning.
- Build relationships with universities, employers, and industry professionals to enhance opportunities.
- Organize and facilitate university fairs, career workshops, and industry engagement events.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external partners to ensure a well-rounded careers education program.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in careers guidance, university counselling, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of the British education system, including GCSE, IB DP, and IB CP pathways.
- Familiarity with university admissions processes in the UK, US, UAE, and other destinations.
- Understanding of career development theories and practices.
- Experience in international schools (preferred).
- Knowledge of Gatsby Benchmarks and careers education frameworks.
- Experience with careers guidance software such as Unifrog.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, engaging effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to balance multiple priorities.
- A proactive, student-focused approach, fostering a supportive and empathetic counselling environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital career guidance tools.
