Job Description

Job Purpose   

The Chief Accountant ensures the credibility of the accounts of Al Baddad in accordance with international accounting standards and local GAAP. Maintains proper and accurate books of accounts, ensures all transactions are recorded on time. Follow the deadlines for completing audits. Oversee the entire accounting team. Conduct necessary training to keep the team’s skills and knowledge up to date.

Duties and Responsibilities

1   Preparation of Financials/Accounts on month, quarterly and annually.

2   Dealing/Coordination with External Auditors during Audit, providing workings and supporting documentation for timely completion of audits.

3   Preparation of Data for quarterly VAT return and submitting VAT return before deadline, coordination with VAT consultant and follow up for timely collection of VAT refunds 

4   Review and post payments received against Invoices

5   Sending statement of accounts to customers and payments follow-up

6   Creating new customers in ERP

7   Booking and keeping records of scrap sales

8   Reconciliation of account receivable module with GL

9   Updating Fixed Assets register and booking monthly depreciation/amortization

10 Updating prepaid register and booking monthly expense

11 Prepare and update group level outstanding receivables aging report

12 Prepare and update group level Sales report (by customer, salesperson, product type, region, country etc)

13 Intercompany reconciliation & posting missing transactions, maintain accurate record of all intercompany transactions.

14 Preparing Etisalat payment.

15 Preparing all banks reconciliations & posting missing transactions and bank charges in bank accounts GL.

16 Posting bank transfers and filing

17 Posting monthly salary in ERP

18 Posting Jafza expenses

19 Posting Invoice cancellations / Credit notes

20 Verifying supplier payment documents

21 Preparing sales invoices in SAP – Ariba network for KSA sales

22 Any other task assigned by the management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, MBA finance or ACCA or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

At least 5+ years of experience as Chief Accountant in contracting and construction business

– External auditors handling

– Knowledge of accounting standards and VAT laws

– Complex bank and account reconciliations

– General ledger accounting, balance sheet accounts reconciliations

– Financial accounting and reporting

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
