Consultant Gastroenterologist

Job Description

Kanad Hospital is looking for a Consultant Gastroenterologist to help lead the restart and growth of our endoscopy services. This role combines clinical GI consultations with the opportunity to bring our endoscopy unit to full operation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building the service, attracting and managing a strong patient flow, and developing a busy schedule of routine screenings and diagnostic procedures.
Endoscopy & Procedural Operations

  • Perform a high volume of upper and lower GI endoscopies.
  • Conduct routine screening procedures.
  • Execute diagnostic endoscopic investigations for symptomatic patients.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions including polypectomies, biopsies, and hemostasis.
  • Maintain top-tier patient safety, hygiene, and efficiency standards in the unit.

GI Consultations & Patient Care

  • Run comprehensive outpatient clinics to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients.
  • Build a steady internal referral pipeline for required endoscopic procedures.
  • Manage inpatient admissions and lead daily clinical ward rounds.
  • Provide urgent endoscopic interventions for acute emergencies like GI bleeding.
  • Participate in the departmental consultant on-call rota.

Qualification

  • Education: Accredited Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent).
  • Certification: Board Certification or Fellowship in Gastroenterology.
  • Logbook: Verifiable record showing a high volume of upper and lower endoscopies.

Experience

Experience: 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience at the Consultant level.
