GEMS FirstPoint School (FPS) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Secondary Teacher of EAL to join our successful and growing school from August 2026.
Opened in 2014, FPS is a premium British curriculum school located in the heart of The Villa community in Dubai. The school currently educates around 2000 students from Nursery to Year 13 and continues to grow, with exciting plans to expand facilities further. Our diverse community represents over 90 nationalities, creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.
Our campus features state of the art facilities, including a dedicated sports and performing arts centre, swimming pools, theatre, sports hall, and specialist rooms for dance, drama, and music. In addition, the main building houses well equipped science labs, design technology workshops, computer suites, and creative arts spaces.

The role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality EAL provision across the secondary phase, supporting students with English as an additional language to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Skills
Key responsibilities include:
- preparing students for external language assessments including IELTS Academic, ESL and EAL IGCSE
- developing and implementing Individual Language Plans tailored to student needs
- monitoring student progress and conducting regular review meetings with parents
- planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that support a range of language abilities
- assessing, recording and reporting on student progress to ensure strong outcomes
- supporting students across the curriculum, including late entrants and those with varying levels of English proficiency
- contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes wellbeing and achievement
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the wider life of the school, including co curricular activities, school events and ongoing professional development.
Skills And Experience
- a Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics or a related field
- a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE (EAL specialism desirable)
- a Master’s in TESOL or Applied Linguistics is an advantage
- a minimum of two years’ experience teaching EAL learners in an academic setting
- proven experience preparing students for IELTS Academic and EAL/ESL examinations
- experience within a British curriculum school is preferred
- strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiation
- commitment to the GEMS core values and a passion for student success
