Main Purpose
The Head of UAE MoE Curriculum will:
Provide strategic leadership and management for all subjects under the Ministry of Education (MoE) framework. This role ensures high-quality teaching and learning, full regulatory compliance, and the successful integration of national identity and values into the wider school curriculum.
Qualifications and Experience
The Applicant must fulfil the criteria below to have their application accepted.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, or a related field.
- Valid UAE Teaching License (TLS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of successful leadership experience within a UAE school setting (Head of Department level).
- Native or near-native fluency in Arabic and high proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Proven track record of achieving “Very Good” or better ratings in KHDA/DSIB or ADEK inspections specifically for MoE subjects.
Skills and Knowledge
- Expert knowledge of the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum standards and framework.
- Deep understanding of the KHDA/DSIB Inspection Framework and the UAE National Agenda Parameter.
- Ability to analyze internal and external data (e.g., IGCSE, PISA, TIMSS, and MoE assessments) to drive departmental improvement.
- Strong ICT skills, including the ability to leverage AI and digital tools for Arabic and Islamic pedagogy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to bridge communication between the school leadership and the MoE/KHDA officials.

Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Lead the strategic direction of the Arabic A, Arabic B, Islamic Education, and Social Studies departments.
- Develop and implement a robust departmental action plan aligned with the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
- Ensure the curriculum is culturally sensitive, compliant with UAE laws, and effectively mapped across all key stages.
- To provide an example of outstanding classroom practice.
- Be responsible for regular review of relevant school policies in consultation with staff and SLT.
- Advise and work alongside colleagues in the classroom, to support, monitor and develop the assigned subjects.
- To support the departmental leads in monitoring the teaching of Arabic, Islamic and MOE throughout the whole school.
- To be a part of the school Extended Senior Leadership Team.
Curriculum
- To provide an example of outstanding classroom practice.
- To have responsibility for the development of Arabic, Islamic and MOE across the whole school and maintaining/improving standards.
- To analyse assessment data to measure children’s progress in Arabic, Islamic and MOE subjects.
- Support the staff in the development of schemes of work to ensure continuity and progression of skills and knowledge across the whole school.
- Advise and work alongside colleagues in the classroom, to support, monitor and develop Arabic, Islamic and MOE.
- To support the teachers in monitoring the teaching of Arabic, Islamic and MOE throughout the whole school.
Administrative
- To assist the SLT and Heads of School in managing an agreed budget to order books and resources for Arabic teaching.
- Organise and review resources and advise staff on their use and storage.
- Organise informative curriculum meetings for parents on Arabic, Islamic and MOE.
- To be aware of and implement safe procedures in line with Health and Safety guidelines, particularly in those areas where they have responsibility.
Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
- Monitor the quality of teaching through regular lesson observations, work scrutinies, and learning walks.
- Ensure that adaptive teaching strategies are used to meet the needs of all learners.
- Oversee the moderation of assessments to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting progress to parents and regulators.
Compliance and Inspection
- Act as the primary point of contact for MoE and KHDA regarding curriculum requirements.
- Maintain all mandatory documentation, including teacher files, curriculum plans, and student attainment data for inspection readiness.
- Lead the school’s efforts in meeting the targets of the UAE National Agenda and Moral Education/Innovation initiatives.
Staff Management and Development
- Manage and appraise MoE subject staff, identifying areas for professional growth.
- Lead departmental meetings and provide high-quality CPD (Continuing Professional Development) for Arabic and Islamic teachers.
- Support the recruitment of high-caliber staff in collaboration with the HR and Leadership teams.
Communication and Community
- Foster strong relationships with parents, ensuring they are well-informed about their child’s progress in national subjects.
- Promote the school’s ethos through the organization of national events (e.g., UAE National Day, Flag Day, Ramadan activities).
- Represent the school at government forums and cluster meetings.
Safeguarding
- Adhere to all statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) and school child protection policies.
- Ensure that all curriculum materials used within the MoE departments are compliant with UAE cultural expectations and safety standards.
General
- To participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager.
- To comply with individual responsibilities in accordance with the role, for health and safety in the workplace
