GEMS MODERN ACADEMY, DUBAI – is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and strategic leader to join our School as the Middle Years Programme Coordinator (MYPC). Key Responsibilities
- Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Develop the curriculum for the relevant age group in conjunction with the Principal and ensure smooth progression for students between year groups.
- Liaise with other coordinators to formalise the curriculum in all relevant subject areas, in accordance with requirements. Regularly update the curriculum in light of recent developments.
- Draw teacher’s awareness to the availability of effective materials and resources for delivering the curriculum.
- Guide class teachers in monitoring the progress of students by developing effective pupil records.
- Provide support and guidance to class teachers by offering advice and arranging in-service training sessions.
- Promote and develop action plans for curriculum assessment, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Participate in workshops and seminars to facilitate continuous professional development.
- Assess the need for additional instructional resources in the department.
- Promote and suggest improvements in communication between school and parents. Encourage
- parental involvement in children’s learning through programmes and events.
- Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
- Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
- Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors
- Responsible for the planning, coordination and administration of the relevant department, alongside,andwithsupport fromthePrincipal.
- Lead the school through the IB MYP authorization process and the periodic self-study and evaluation required by the IB.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
- Oversee the implementation of criterion-related assessment, moderation processes, and the generation of MYP reports.
Skills
- To be considered for this appointment: You will have the following skills and experience:
- A Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Formal IB MYP Category 1 and Category 2/3 training. MYP Workshop Leader certification is a significant advantage.
- Professional proficiency in English.
