Job Description
Nursing Supervisor serves as a link between the Nurse Manager and department Managers/Head in the absence of the nurse manager and the administrator on call.
Covers Nursing Department other patient care areas and the hospital in general during day and night shifts. Knowledge of hospital and nursing policies, procedures and independent judgment is required for the job. Additionally, this position involves knowledge of Utilization Review rules and regulations, as they assist physicians and staff with assigning admission status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
- Assess patient care requirements in each unit, by making rounds in the Emergency Department (ED), and all other areas of the hospital (according to departmental need/activity).
- Assess the acuity of care required by patient the patients and develop and implement staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff.
- Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical challenges.
- Assist staff to efficiently utilize staffing resources to meet patient care requirements and other professional responsibilities.
- Provide for immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to appropriate Manager and Director.
- Respond to emergency situations (RRT, Code Blue) and assists as necessary.
- Act as a resource in identifying and/or solving administrative/operational challenges.
- Anticipate actual/potential challenges that may occur on their shift and sets shift priorities accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with nursing and ancillary staff to solve challenges in a fair, consistent manner.
- Report to the administrator-on-call significant incidents/outcomes.
- Act as a resource, interpret and ensure adherence to Fakeeh University Hospital and nursing philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Educational Qualification & Professional Experience desired:
- Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
- BSN or equivalent essential
- Master’s in nursing is a definite advantage
- Must hold active DHA license/eligibility as Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 5 years recent acute care experience in supervisory role is desired
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Active Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
- Supervisory experience in busy private hospital setting in UAE is essential
