Description
A physiotherapist is responsible for providing evidence based physiotherapy (PT) services to patients with a wide range of needs, with the purpose of obtaining, maintaining or restoring a function(s) to patients following injury or disease, pain management, disability or for the promotion of mobility and well-being/health. A physiotherapist is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions and illnesses that affect people of all ages and social groups by physical and/or mechanical means. The physiotherapist is an educator and information source for patients and their families. The physiotherapist encourages, facilitates and supports rehabilitation at home, at work and at play.
Essential Job Functions and Key Accountability
1.Clinical
1.1. Provides clinical and medical care consistent with internationally recognized evidenced based clinical care pathways, standards and/or guidelines.
1.2. Examine, diagnose, and treat injury, pain or disability responsive to physiotherapist intervention.
1.3. Formulates clinical impressions, clinical diagnoses, problem lists, and treatment priorities and goals obtained from a detailed history and physical examination.
1.4. Uses a variety of treatment modalities such as but not limited to manual therapy including manipulation, mobilization and massage as well as complementary modalities including electrotherapy and medical acupuncture and dry needling, to support maximum self-sufficiency and function in a normal or near normal manner as possible.
1.5. Utilize prescriptive exercise as a rehabilitative tool to help patients achieve their full potential where necessary.
1.6. Responsible for referring the patient back to the physician, and suggests further investigation when and as necessary
1.7. Communicates and coordinates all aspects of patient care and management with those concerned.
1.8. Responsible for determining appropriate physiotherapy visit schedule for patients based on clinical assessment and patient needs.
2.Documentation
2.1. Manages patient medical records, including developing effective recording systems, maintaining patient records, maintaining patient confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information, and educating patients, and fulfilling the requirements of patient consent, and patients’ rights and responsibilities.
3.Teaching/Public Relations
3.1. Provision of safe manual handling and lifting techniques education.
3.2. Presents educational seminars and public lectures on health topics, promoting physiotherapy services and healthy lifestyles.
3.3. Contributes to physiotherapy in-service education.
4.Collaboration
4.1. Works with all professionals as appropriate including insurance personnel and the referring physician to obtain necessary pre-authorization for physiotherapy treatment.
4.2. Understand and apply the full insurance process for the department and able to submit electronic authorizations when necessary.
5.Maintain a current Basic Life Support certificate.
6.Maintain a current DOH license
7.Complete annual staff training requirements.
8.Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
9.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy.
DOH licensed / DOH Exam Exempted (DHA/MOH license will be considered).
Fluent in English and Arabic
Experience
Minimum 2 years experience
Male preferred
