Safety Officer

Job Description

We are looking for Safety Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of employees and the compliance of operations with safety and environmental regulations including EAD, ADOSH version 4, Civil Defense, etc. Strive for an incident-free environment by aligning with company HSE goals.

Health & Safety

• Implementing, and maintaining safety and health management systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct regular health and safety inspections and audits (employees , contractors)
• Investigate and respond to incidents and accidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with government regulations (Civil Defense/ADOSH/LaborLaws,Tadweer)
• Develop and deliver health and safety training, safety induction, tool box talks to employees
• Conduct risk assessments and evaluate the potential impacts of operations, Identifies hazards and potential risks & assist operations staff with eliminating or mitigating those hazards.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, mock drills, and contact information
• Maintain accurate records and Health & Safety statistics reports of health and safety programs and incidents
• Implement and monitor the occupational health surveillance programs (spirometry test, eye test, etc.)
• Maintain first aid kits and update usage treatment log
• Ensure regular inspection and calibration of equipment, machinery, fire safety system, and devices

· Advise employees on safe work practices.

Environment

• Implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conducting internal environmental assessments, including air and water quality monitoring, waste management, and soil contamination assessments.
• Implementing environmental policies and procedures, including waste management plans, energy conservation plans, and pollution prevention programs.
• Ensure implementation of regular environment tests (air quality, noise level, odor, soil emissions, etc.)
• Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, CONTROL OF SUBSTANCE HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH, including tracking energy and water usage, waste reduction efforts and other environmental metrics.
• Coordinating and collaborating with other departments, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and laws.
• Educating and training employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues and best practices.
• Investigating and addressing environmental complaints, violations, and incidents.
• Providing guidance and support for environmental impact assessments, and other regulatory requirements.
• Keeping updated with changes in environmental laws and regulations and ensuring that the organization complies with new regulations.
• Managing and monitoring environmental impacts.
• Participating in emergency response activities, such as spills and other environmental incidents.
• Providing environmental performance and compliance updates.

· Respond to and conduct small quantity spill containment and clean up.

• Monitor the implementation and close-out of findings and recommendation from audits
• Ensure PPE issuance

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH)
• NEBOSH certificate / IOSH
• 5+ years of experience as an EHS Officer
• First Aid and Firefighting training
• Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
• Knowledge of OSH and EAD regulations and best practices
• CONTROL OF SUBSTANCE HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH/ HAZMAT
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and training skills
• Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Demonstrated knowledge of waste management practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to influence recommendations in a positive way
• Ability to prevent or stop unsafe work and practices
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Confidence, maturity, problem solving, ability to multi task and handle interdisciplinary levels
• UAE driving license
