Senior Accountant

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • General Accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Manage general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions, resolving discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including aging reviews and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Financial Reporting and Close
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
  • Support the preparation of management reports, cash flow forecasts, and budgeting exercises.
  • Ensure proper documentation and supporting schedules for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Audit and Compliance
  • Act as a key point of contact for external and internal audits, providing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including timely and accurate tax filings and other regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain adherence to internal financial policies, controls, and approval frameworks.
  • Process Improvement and Internal Controls
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and automation to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the financial close.
  • Participate in ERP system implementations or enhancements to strengthen financial reporting.
  • Support the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Team Support
  • Guide and review the work of junior accounting staff, providing coaching and technical support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and treasury, on finance-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA, or similar) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to full-cycle accounting and financial close.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle Fusion is an advantage) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in a multinational group or large corporate environment preferred.
