Job Description
SAIS is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our student support team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the emotional and social wellbeing of students, working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that each student is provided with the appropriate resources and care to thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support and Counseling:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing emotional, social, or academic challenges.
- Conduct assessments to identify students in need of social services and create personalized intervention plans.
- Offer guidance and support in areas such as conflict resolution, peer relationships, family issues, and personal development.
- Develop and implement programs to promote student mental health and wellbeing.
Collaboration and Referral:
- Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and parents to identify and address student needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and external agencies (e.g., mental health professionals, social services) when additional support is required.
- Coordinate with local authorities for students needing specialized services or interventions.
Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Respond to and manage situations of crisis, offering immediate support to students and their families.
- Develop and implement emergency intervention strategies in cases of serious behavioral or emotional distress.
Community Engagement and Awareness:
- Organize workshops and activities that raise awareness about mental health, wellbeing, and other social issues.
- Foster a culture of understanding and inclusivity, advocating for student welfare within the school community.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in social work, counseling, or a similar student support role, preferably within a school environment.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work independently, manage sensitive situations with confidentiality, and make decisions in high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of UAE laws and regulations related to social work and child protection.
- Language:
- Fluent in Arabic and English (both spoken and written).
