Provides comprehensive and diligent cardio-thoracic surgical care to all patients, including pre- and post-operative care and such surgical procedures as are within incumbent’s competence.
Assumes after-hours responsibility for the care of cardio-thoracic cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and when required.
Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
Identifies need for tests or follow-up visits.
Supports Continuous Quality Improvement.
Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.
Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
Evidences dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties. Â
Qualifications
Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; certification by the American Board of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its equivalent).
At least five (5) years of practice as a cardio-thoracic surgeon with two (2) or more years as a licensed specialist.Â
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Â
Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Â
Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license as a specialist cardio-thoracic surgeon to practice in Dubai, UAE.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
