Job Description

The purpose of this position is to assist the aviation faculty members in teaching and administrative activities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Helping student with their course related projects.
  • Monitor student projects, ensure equitable contribution from all participants and assist in grading of Student project
  • Assists students with their course projects
  • Facilitates lab use for students during operating hours.
  • Communicates and coordinates with faculty, staff and students regarding lab resources and procedures.
  • Support the design of lab sessions, when applicable.
  • Offers tutorials based on the faculty recommendation in order to assist with solving any learning problems students may have.
  • Proctor exams and coordinate make-up exams.
  • Liaises with vendors to receive new equipment training and ensure proper installation
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of various equipment, hardware, software, instructional media and other materials used for class exercises and demonstrations.
  • Oversees inventory of supplies, equipment and other materials needed for daily operations of the lab.
  • Assists with student events
  • Procures lab consumable materials
  • Monitor and prepare laboratory experiments and follow prescribed procedures for maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure circulation of the teaching materials obtained from the course instructor, or provide suitable additional teaching materials as relevant to the lab component of the course.
  • Hold weekly hours to assist students with their assignments in aviation classes which include homework assignments and project assignments.
  • Monitoring/conducting preventive, routine maintenance, modifying lab equipment and experimental set ups and calibration of these equipment as needed.
  • Assist the faculty in keeping records of student attendance and in preparing brief reports on the attendance and work of each student at the end of each semester.
  • Supervising Students during laboratory sessions and assist with grading laboratory assignments.
  • Preparing brief reports on students attendance
  • Lab Equipment maintenance reports
  • Assists in preparation of course files.
  • Support the Learning Outcome Assessment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the area of civil aviation
  • Relevant experience in preparation of aviation laboratories, equipment and experiments
  • Leadership in matters relating to student instruction
  • Academic and administrative management of the classroom
  • Problem solving
  • Explicit knowledge and skills related to the academic courses offered by the Department of Aviation, particularly in the areas of Modern Flight and Airport Operations, Flight Safety and Security, Human Factors, Unmanned Air Systems and Space Flight Operations
