Karadeniz Holding was founded in 1948 by the late Rauf Osman Karadeniz, initially focusing on the trade of heavy industrial machinery and products. Over the past 77 years, the company has expanded into energy, finance, real estate, and shipbuilding, becoming a leading name not only in Turkey but also in the global energy sector.
Energy Leadership
Karadeniz Holding entered the energy sector in 1996 and quickly became a pioneer. The company has achieved several firsts in Turkey:
Obtaining the first wholesale electricity sales license
Completing the first cross-border electricity export
Becoming the first private company to import electricity from Europe
Today, Karadeniz Holding continues to invest in thermal, geothermal, and solar power projects, with a total installed capacity of 250 MW in Turkey.
Powership – Floating Power Plants
In 2007, Karadeniz Holding launched its first fleet of floating power plants, known as Powerships, under its global brand Karpowership. These ships carry Turkey’s energy technology worldwide.
The company now operates 45 energy ships with a combined capacity exceeding 8,000 MW, making it the world’s largest fleet of floating power plants.
Karpowership provides electricity in 14 countries across Africa, MENA, Asia, and the Americas, supplying 10% to 100% of electricity needs in countries like Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal, Iraq, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic.
Global Presence
Karadeniz Holding employs over 3,000 people and operates in 20 countries, continuing to expand its investments and strengthen its global energy leadership.
