Our Journey

2012: KOA (previously M1 Investments) acquires a 40% stake in ZMZ Investments LLC, which manages companies in property development, construction, hospitality, landscaping, water utilities, and waste management. This includes iconic properties like Al Barari in Dubai.

2016: KOA Residences is launched, redefining modern urban living. Canvas, our first residential project, features 41 unique homes surrounded by 200,000 sq ft of landscaped gardens.

2018: KOA acquires a 2-million sq ft site on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Nasab, Dubai’s co-working and wellness club, opens to connect Canvas residents and city members.

2019: KOA enters the culinary scene with LOWE, an all-day dining restaurant focusing on seasonal produce and traditional wood-fire cooking, earning multiple awards including Dubai’s first Michelin Green Star.

2020: KOA launches Nest, offering 13 exclusive residences and expanding our presence in Dubai’s real estate market.

2021: KOA introduces The Collection, a luxury community of 44 plots averaging 16,000 sq ft, featuring villas with world-class views of the Dubai skyline.

2022–2025: KOA continues to expand with Amaia, a high-end estate development in Al Barari. Meanwhile, LOWE gains continued recognition in the Middle East & North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants list, receiving multiple Michelin Green Star awards.

Our Founder – Mohammed Zaal

Mohammed Zaal is a UAE-based entrepreneur known for transforming Dubai’s property scene. As the former CEO and developer of Al Barari, he set new benchmarks in residential design, emphasizing harmony with nature, culture, and luxury amenities.

Building on decades of family heritage dating back to the early 19th century, Mohammed founded KOA in 2016 to redefine urban living and working in the UAE. Recognized in the Construction Power 100 and 100 Most Powerful Arabs Under 40, he continues to drive KOA’s growth and innovation.
