MIPCO is the company responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the Mirfa Independent Water and Power Project (IWPP) in the United Arab Emirates. The project plays an important role in supplying reliable electricity and desalinated water to support the country’s growing energy and water needs.
The project operates under a long-term Power and Water Purchase Agreement (PWPA), providing a stable framework for power generation and water production. MIPCO also works through a range of operational, financial, and technical agreements that support the construction, operation, and long-term management of the facility.
The Mirfa IWPP combines both upgraded existing facilities and new infrastructure to deliver efficient and dependable utility services. With a power generation capacity of 1,600 megawatts (MW) and a water production capacity of 52.5 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD), the plant is a key contributor to the UAE’s utility infrastructure.
