History & Milestones

Tractebel’s roots go back to the 19th century, combining decades of engineering excellence:

Tractionel / Tractebel (1929): Evolved from early tramway and electricity companies.

Coyne et Bellier (1947): Famous for designing over 70 dams worldwide, including the Kariba Dam and Daniel-Johnson Dam. Joined Tractebel in 1976.

LEME Engenharia (1965): Leading engineering consultancy in Brazil for hydropower, energy transmission, and water infrastructure. Acquired by Tractebel in 2000.

International Marine and Dredging Consultants (1982): Specialized in water-related studies, flood risk, dredging, ports, and coastal infrastructure.

Through these acquisitions and partnerships, Tractebel has delivered hundreds of large-scale infrastructure projects in over 70 countries, including hydropower plants, transmission lines, dams, ports, and complex buildings.
