Account Director

August 29, 2026

Job Description

You’re an experienced client partner and team leader who knows how to grow great accounts, build genuinely strong client relationships and lead teams that deliver brilliant work.

You’re commercially sharp, strategically minded and comfortable operating independently. You understand social, digital, creative and innovation, but you’re equally comfortable talking revenue, margins and growth. You can walk into a senior client meeting, make the complicated feel simple, and leave with everyone clear on what happens next.

You’ll Bring

  • 5–7 years’ account management experience, ideally within a social-first, creative, innovation or tech-driven agency.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the confidence to spot opportunities, grow portfolios and win new business.
  • Strong strategic thinking and a deep understanding of digital platforms, social trends and creative innovation.
  • The ability to turn business objectives into clear strategies, actions and measurable KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including confidence with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial capability across budgeting, forecasting, scopes, contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience juggling multiple accounts, high-value clients and diverse teams without allowing quality or detail to quietly disappear.
  • A natural ability to build relationships. You become a trusted advisor, not simply the person clients email when they need a status update.

What You’ll Do

Grow the business

  • Own and grow a portfolio of key accounts, spotting opportunities to upsell, cross-sell and expand our partnerships. You’ll develop strategic account plans, generate leads, lead pitches and independently secure new business.
  • You’ll also own the commercial health of your accounts, including **revenue, margins, scope, budgets and contracts**, ensuring targets are consistently met.

Become the client’s trusted partner

  • Build strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders and become someone clients genuinely want in the room.
  • You’ll lead strategic discussions and quarterly presentations, bringing insights, benchmarks, ideas and forward-looking recommendations, rather than simply reporting what happened last quarter.
  • Ultimately, we want clients to see Tactical as an innovation-first partner, not a company that simply executes a contract.

Lead brilliant teams

  • Lead, mentor and develop Account Managers and the wider account team, creating opportunities for people to grow while maintaining high standards across every account.
  • You’ll set the bar for quality and make sure the work leaving the building is something both Tactical and the client are proud of.

Keep us ahead

  • Stay close to what’s happening across social, digital, technology and creative culture, then turn those trends into ideas clients can actually use.
  • You’ll lead and support innovation workshops, pitches and thought leadership, benchmark global best practice and bring the strongest thinking back into our client strategies.

Keep everything commercially and operationally healthy

  • Make sure CRM and reporting systems are actually used, not merely opened occasionally with good intentions.
  • You’ll maintain visibility across opportunities, revenue and client relationships, own deliverables, budgets, contracts and performance metrics, and spot potential problems before they become actual problems.
  • When something does go sideways, you’ll be the person calmly finding the solution rather than adding another meeting to discuss the existence of the problem.
