Job Description

•    Assists the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
•    Is familiar with, and understands, the Severe Care Domains of DOH.
•    Monitors the impact of nursing care and maintains ongoing communication with the Registered Nurse regarding the status of patients in their care.
•    Demonstrates an understanding and utilization of Evidenced-Based Healthcare.
•    Advocates in the best interest of the patient and family at all times.
•    Provides education to the family regarding aspects of care as appropriate.
•    Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians/therapists with procedures.
•    Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
•    Adheres to dress code; appearance is professional, neat and clean.
•    Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
•    Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
•    Is responsible to maintain up to date clinical knowledge and self-directed ongoing education.
•    Completes annual education requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements.
•    Attends and participates in annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
•    Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
•    Actively participates in Performance Improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
•    Complies with all organizational policies.

Qualifications

8. QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 ESSENTIALPREFERRED
EducationGraduate from a recognized nursing school (minimum 2 yrs)ACLS (for adult patients)PALS (for pediatric patients)
Experience1 years minimum clinical experience plus 6 months recent experience with ventilated patients (i.e. extra 6 months adult ventilated patients for adult AN’s and extra 6 months pediatric ventilated patients for pediatric AN’s)Long term care or rehabilitation experience
Certification and LicensureCurrent valid registration in country of training and/or country of last employmentEligible for DOH licensing
