Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager / Liner Accountant to join our shipping and logistics company in Dubai. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in liner accounting, shipping finance, accounts payable/receivable, vessel-related accounting, SOA (Statement of Account) reconciliation, and financial reporting.

The candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day finance operations, maintaining accurate accounts, handling liner and agency accounts, and ensuring timely reconciliation and settlement of outstanding balances.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the shipping/logistics business.
• Handle liner accounting and agency accounting activities.
• Prepare, review and reconcile SOA (Statement of Accounts) with customers, vendors, principals, agents and shipping lines.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Prepare customer and vendor statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Handle shipping line/liner invoices, freight invoices, port charges, agency charges, vessel-related expenses and other operational costs.
• Verify invoices against supporting documents and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Maintain accurate records of vessel/liner-related income and expenses.
• Perform bank, customer, vendor and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and financial reports.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
• Coordinate with operations, commercial and documentation teams to resolve billing and accounting discrepancies.
• Ensure timely collection of receivables and settlement of payables.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT and other applicable accounting/tax requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors, banks, suppliers and customers when required.
• Maintain proper documentation and financial controls.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Support senior management with financial analysis and business reporting.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably within shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, liner agency or maritime companies.
• Strong hands-on experience in Liner Accounting and SOA reconciliation is highly preferred.
• Good knowledge of shipping and logistics accounting processes.
• Experience handling AP, AR, bank reconciliation, invoicing and collections.
• Good understanding of UAE VAT and accounting practices.
• Experience with accounting/ERP software.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Candidates currently available in the UAE/Dubai are preferred.
• Immediate joiners or candidates with a short notice period are strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with shipping lines, liner agencies, NVOCC, freight forwarding or logistics companies will be an advantage.
• Must be capable of independently handling finance operations and liner accounting responsibilities.
