GEMS School’s in the UAE are looking for a Head of MOE Subjects to lead and manage the effective delivery of the Ministry of Education curriculum across Arabic (for native and non-native speakers) and Islamic Education. The role involves curriculum development, staff leadership, compliance with MOE regulations, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Aspects of the Role of Head of MOE Subjects
There are five aspects which enable the Key Purpose to be achieved:
- Promoting and ensuring student development, progress and well being
- Leading teaching and learning and managing policy within the context of the Year group
- Leading and managing people and teams
- Managing resources
- Promoting and representing the Specialist Subject area of the MOE Subjects
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and management of the MOE departments.
- Ensure the curriculum aligns with the UAE Ministry of Education guidelines and is delivered to a high standard.
- Oversee lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and assessment strategies for Arabic, Islamic, and UAE Social Studies.
- Monitor and support the professional development of department staff.
- Liaise with school leadership and the MOE to ensure compliance with educational regulations and inspections.
- Lead on the preparation and execution of external and internal audits related to MOE subjects.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching methodologies.
- Support whole-school initiatives, events, and community engagement relevant to MOE subjects.
- Ensure effective communication with parents regarding student progress in MOE subjects.
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arabic, Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role in a similar capacity.
- Deep understanding of UAE MOE curriculum requirements.
- Bilingual in Arabic and English (preferred).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a diverse team of teachers.
