Role Description

The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting execution, general ledger management, transactional reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations, assisting in monthly closings, and ensuring transactional compliance under UAE VAT guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. General Ledger & Day-to-Day Accounting

  • Record, verify, and post daily financial transactions (AP, AR, journal entries) in ERP systems.
  • Maintain the General Ledger, ensuring proper cost-center allocation across operational business units.
  • Perform monthly bank, vendor, and customer account reconciliations.

2. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing

  • Assist the Finance Manager in month-end and year-end financial closing schedules.
  • Prepare trial balances, schedule of accounts, and draft preliminary profit & loss / balance sheet statements.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances, schedules, and cross-border transactional entries.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and manage monthly depreciation schedules.

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable Management

  • Process vendor invoices, ensure proper approvals, and prepare disbursement schedules.
  • Track accounts receivable, generate customer statements, and follow up on outstanding collections.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial databases and execute regular data backups.

4. Tax & Audit Operational Support

  • Collect, organize, and compile supporting documentation for UAE VAT filings.
  • Support the Finance Manager during internal and external audit procedures by pulling requested ledger schedules, vouchers, and bank statements.
  • Assist with document preparation for regulatory compliance and statutory record-keeping.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance (B.Com) or semi-qualified accountant (CA Inter / ACCA candidate / CMA).
  • Experience: 4 to 6 years of hands-on accounting experience in the UAE, ideally within logistics, or aviation services.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems & MS Office
  • Tax Knowledge: Operational understanding of UAE VAT & CT rules and documentation requirements.
  • Core Competencies: High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, independent problem-solving skills, and ability to meet strict month-end deadlines.
