JESS are seeking a Part Time (1-2 days a week) Peripatetic Percussion Specialist for September 2025 to join a dynamic Music Department and make a valued contribution to the future development and direction of Music at the school. The successful applicant will be a first-rate musician and an engaging and intellectually curious classroom practitioner with a true passion for music education and an infectious love of the subject. We are looking for someone who is an experienced and accomplished Percussion teacher with experience in teaching Drums. They must be passionate about music and wish to share this with enthusiastic and energetic young people. They will have the ability to motivate and inspire our budding musicians. You will foster a supportive and nurturing environment, allowing students to develop their skills at their own pace while instilling a sense of discipline and dedication. 

This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience whilst working alongside an accomplished Music team, share expertise, inspire creativity, and foster a love for music among our students. 

The successful candidate must be:

·        Proficient in percussion instruments especially Drums both playing and teaching 

·        Passionate about inspiring and motivating students in their musical journey 

·        Hold excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with parents 

·        Have experience in teaching primary school students, adapting lessons to suit individual abilities 

·        Committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment

The department is well resourced and supported. Music plays an integral part of life at JESS. Pupils from the ages of 3 to 18 are encouraged to learn and participate as fully as possible in a routine of rehearsals, recitals and concerts.
