Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
A. Student Counselling:
- Provide1:1 counselling sessionsto support students’ emotional and social well-being.
- Assess the suitability of the counselling setting for each student’s needs.
- Maintain anopen-door policyto ensure approachability and trust.
- Clearly communicate thelimitations of confidentialitywithin the counselling process.
- Offer guidance and support tostudents, parents, and staffwhere appropriate.
- Conductgroup sessionswhen collective issues are identified.
- Liaise withteachers, nurses, heads of year, and senior staffwhile maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensureequal accessto counselling services for all students.
- Remain alert to issues affecting students’ emotional health—individually and collectively.
B. Career Counselling:
- Guide students incareer exploration, goal-setting, and planning.
- Provide support withuniversity applications, subject selection, and pathways post-graduation.
- Organizecareer talks, fairs, and workshopsto raise awareness of opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge oflocal and international higher education systems.
To the Wider Community:
- Communicate and liaise withparentsabout student well-being and progress, within confidentiality boundaries.
- Support and trainschool staffto help them recognize and manage student mental health and well-being concerns.
Professional Development:
- Stay informed and compliant withChild Protection policies, liaising with the Designated Safeguarding Lead as required.
- Promote awareness of the counselling service tostudents, staff, and parents.
- Attend and recommend relevantCPD opportunities, workshops, and seminars.
- Collaborate withexternal agenciesto enrich counselling support.
- Keep up to date withliterature and best practicesin youth counselling and career development.
- Participate inregular supervisionsessions as required for professional practice.
- Provide timelyreports and updateson the counselling programme when requested.

- Bachelor’s degree inPsychology, Counselling, Education, or a related field(Master’s preferred).
- Certification inSchool Counselling and/or Career Guidancepreferred.
- Minimum of3 years’ experiencein a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding ofchild development, safeguarding, and pastoral care.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
