SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (LINER ACCOUNTS)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant – Liner Accounts to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in liner shipping accounting, Statement of Accounts (SOA), principal reconciliations, and financial reporting within the shipping and logistics industry. The candidate should be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and capable of meeting reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for liner shipping operations.
  • Prepare and review Statements of Account (SOA) for shipping principals.
  • Reconcile principal, customer, vendor, bank, and intercompany accounts.
  • Record freight revenue, local charges, agency fees, detention, demurrage, and other shipping-related transactions.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the General Ledger.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Prepare ageing reports and follow up on outstanding collections.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, IFRS, and UAE VAT regulations.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and audit support documents.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Commercial, Documentation, and Customer Service teams to resolve accounting issues.
  • Identify process improvements and maintain strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with experience in the shipping and logistics industry.
  • Hands-on experience with Liner Accounts and Statement of Accounts (SOA).
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting software.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Immediate joiner preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarding, or NVOCC operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
