Job Description
Role Summary:
This role is ideal for candidates who have previously worked in accounting roles within law firms or legal consultanciesin the UAE. You will be responsible for handling client trust accounts, managing retainer billings, ensuring accurate VAT submissions, and maintaining precise financial records as per legal industry standards.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations for a law firm or legal group structure.
- Handle client retainer accounts, trust accounts, and project-based billing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws and FTA regulations, especially for legal services.
- Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
- Track and reconcile accounts receivable/payable related to client matters.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Review contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition for legal retainers.
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants in legal accounting practices.
- Improve financial processes and internal controls specific to legal operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA preferred).
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a law firm or legal consultancy in the UAE.
- Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- In-depth understanding of law firm accounting procedures, including client trust accounting, retainers, and project-based invoicing.
- Strong knowledge of UAE VAT compliance and FTA reporting for legal services.
- Proficient in accounting software (Zoho Books preferred) and ERP systems.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and legal projects simultaneously.
