- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical work activities:
- assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate   radiographic techniques;Â
- performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-Â Â Â Â Â quality images;Â
- observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department;Â
- assisting in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of a radiologist and senior staff;Â
- working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise;Â
- using initiative to prioritize, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and, when appropriate, assisting senior staff to plan efficient control of work flow patterns within the department;Â
- communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful and appropriate way;Â
- positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma;Â
- dealing confidently with difficult situations;Â
- recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality;Â
- learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and participating in annual performance appraisal programmes;Â
- supervising assistant practitioners, and other staff, and delivering appropriate training;Â
- performing necessary administrative tasks, when required;Â
- understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others;Â
- undertaking quality control checks on X-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives;Â
- Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported to Biomedical and HOD.Â
- reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures;Â
- Â Â Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department.
- Â Â Assist Radiologist in procedures and helping with reporting
- Â Â Managing PACS and HMS as the need may be
- Â Â Maintaining TAT register and department indicators.
- Â Â Arranging the forms for radiologists for reporting
- Â Â Arranging for emergency procedures
- Â Â Ensuring JCIA compliance among Radiographers.
- Â Â Timely delivery of images and form to Doctors for reporting.Â
- Â Â To perform and follow quality assurance programs for various RADIOLOGY sub- departments.
- To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â CT ScanÂ
- To perform quality control test daily.
- To make sure that the consent form is duly filled up
- To explain to the patient before starting the procedure.
- The contrast procedure is carried out according to instruction given by the radiologist.
- To explain to the patient about contraindications.
- To make sure that all emergency drugs and accessories are properly maintained with the assistance of an experienced nurse.
- To arrange anesthesia back up in case of emergencies, non-cooperative patients.
- To ensure that the images obtained are seen and verified by the radiologist.
- To check whether the images are properly sent to PACS and make sure that the images are archived.
- To check the stock of contrast media and films regularly.
- To ensure that the equipments are in proper working conditions and in case of any problem to inform the department in-charge or biochemical engineer.
- To maintain the breakdown logbook.
- To perform any other work/ job as when assigned by the superior.
- Exclude pregnancy in woman of child bearing child and bring to Physician / Radiologists notice.
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Routine X-ray, Fluoroscopy
- To ensure the rooms and equipment are kept clean.
- To explain to the patient before starting the procedure.
- To ensure that necessary radiation protection is given to the patient.
- To take x-ray as per the instruction and given if for digital processing.
- Â To check the quality of x-ray before the patient leaves the department.
-  To send the images for reporting to doctor’s through PACS system
- Â To give necessary instruction and appointment to the patient in case of contrast studies.
- Â To carry out the fluoroscopy procedures according to the instruction given by the radiologist.
Qualifications
- QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIALSKILLS
- College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent.
- Current license in the country of origin, with DHA License to practice in Dubai, UAE.Â
- The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of  and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology and physics.Â
- Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.Â
- Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
- At least three years experience.
- A supportive and caring disposition.Â
- Adaptability and good time management skills.Â
- Team working ability.
- Confidence in dealing with stressful situations.Â
- IT competencies.
