Job Description
Basic Purpose of the role
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced psychiatrist to join our medical team. You’ll be in responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental health problems, recommending therapies, and scheduling follow-up sessions and risk assessment and management.
Key responsibilities of the role
Helps patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions.
• Develops and implements treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications.
• Monitors and evaluates treatment outcomes.
• Interviews patients, family members, and others; conducts physical examinations; observes behaviours; reviews medical history and related documents; selects, administers, and interprets psychological tests; and orders laboratory testing and evaluates results.
• Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioural disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
• Treats patients using psychotherapy approaches and medications; discusses progress toward goals with patients; provides instructions; monitors medication effect; and supervises staff service provision.
• Maintains interdisciplinary care by monitoring treatment plans and progress, as well as consulting and cooperating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
• Maintains historical records by writing summaries and documenting symptoms, drugs, and therapy events.
Other responsibilities
• Assures quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations requirements, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; and remaining available for emergency consultations.
• Improves staff competence through training and discussions.
• Participates in continuing medical education opportunities, reading professional journals, maintains personal networks, and participates in professional organizations to keep job knowledge up to date.
• Improves the reputation of the department and the organization by embracing responsibility for completing new and diverse requests and discovering chances to add value to job accomplishments.
Compliance guidelines
Maintains and enhances the organisation’s Revenue cycle by planning, implementing and evaluating Revenue Management policies, programs and practices.
Responsible for operational implementation and for ensuring that practice is contemporary and meets international and UAE national guidelines.
The ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles.
Completes and maintains all regulatory requirements including licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.
Demonstrate a high standard of active listening skills as well as other verbal and written communication skills.
Ensures all staff maintains confidentiality regarding staff/patient information.
Maintaining collaborative and effective relationships with other key management personnel and keeps abreast of significant economic, social and technical trends and regulatory guidelines, which may influence assigned functions/services and/or the facility.
Functions as a resource to all Staff and acts as liaison with other disciplines and departments.
Maintain a positive work environment for staff and promote team efforts, promote and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
Adheres to the policies of Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Control Guidelines in all work practices.
Establish and maintain professional interpersonal relationships – Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
Emotionally self-aware, practice self-control, able to empathetically interact and understand the team and their needs and demonstrates effective management of relations to ensure team success and better patient care outcomes.
Acts as a professional role model and resource person.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
• CCT – Certificate of Completion of Training
• CCST – Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training
• Membership of the Royal Colleges of Psychiatrists
• Fellowship of the Royal College of psychiatrists
• At least 7 years of experience post-specialty registration
• Arabic fluency is an asset
Physical requirements
Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting and walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout the facility and lift up to 13 kgs.
