Registered Nurse (Mental Health)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality mental health nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and evidence-based practices.
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ mental, emotional, and physical well-being, reporting any significant changes to the multidisciplinary team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
• Support patients experiencing mental health challenges through therapeutic communication and crisis intervention techniques.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, coping strategies, and available support services.
• Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to promote positive patient outcomes.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards at all times.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Valid DOH License or DOH Eligibility Letter.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Mental Health, Psychiatry, Behavioral Health, Addiction Services, or a related specialty.
• Strong understanding of mental health disorders, therapeutic communication, and patient de-escalation techniques.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality mental health care.
• Experience in inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient mental health services, or community mental health settings is preferred.
