Job Summary
The Instrumentation & Automation Engineer will be part of the construction supervision team, working under the direction of the Resident Engineer and Project Manager. The role focuses on the design review, site supervision, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation, control, and automation systems for STPs, rising mains, and pumping station projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all works comply with project specifications, local authority standards, and contractual requirements, supporting the successful delivery and operation of wastewater infrastructure.
Job Duties
- Supervise and inspect installation, testing, and commissioning of all ICA (Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) systems for STPs and pumping stations.
- Oversee SCADA system integration, PLCs, control panels, field instrumentation, and telemetry systems.
- Review and comment on contractor submittals, including shop drawings, material approvals, method statements, ITPs, and FAT/SAT documentation.
- Ensure all instrumentation and automation works comply with Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other relevant authority standards.
- Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of ICA systems with process and power systems.
- Monitor contractor’s performance, ensuring adherence to approved programmes and quality requirements.
- Review process control philosophies, P&IDs, I/O lists, and functional design specifications to ensure correct system configuration.
- Witness and validate testing, calibration, and programming of instrumentation and automation equipment.
- Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) for ICA equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and commissioning activities.
- Provide technical guidance and decision-making support during installation and commissioning phases.
- Liaise with the design team for clarification of technical queries and to ensure design intent is met.
- Support preparation of as-built documentation and O&M manuals related to ICA systems.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline from a recognized university or technical institute.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design, construction, and supervision of STPs, rising mains, and pumping stations.
