About the Role:

The Senior Accountant – Accounts Payable is responsible for overseeing and executing the full accounts payable cycle for Dubai Holding Community Management. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant processing of invoices, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements, contributing to efficient cash flow management and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements within the accounts payable function.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

1. Accounts Payable Operations:

  • Lead the end-to-end processing of a high volume of invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and adherence to company policies and approval matrices.
  • Oversee and execute timely payment runs (e.g., checks, wire transfers, ACH), ensuring all disbursements are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company travel and expense policies.
  • Manage vendor master data, ensuring accurate and up-to-date vendor information.

2. Reconciliation & Vendor Management:

  • Perform regular and complex reconciliations of vendor statements, general ledger accounts, and accounts payable sub-ledgers to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding payments and invoices, fostering positive vendor relationships.
  • Investigate and resolve payment issues, invoice discrepancies, and other accounts payable-related problems.

3. Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely accounts payable aging reports, cash disbursement forecasts, and other relevant financial reports for management review.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable, ensuring all accruals and entries are accurate.
  • Analyze accounts payable data to identify trends, potential liabilities, and opportunities for process optimization.

4. Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure strict adherence to DHCM’s financial policies, internal controls, and relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and analysis related to accounts payable.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to accounts payable processes and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation.

5. Team Support & Collaboration:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounts payable staff, assisting with complex issues and training on best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments (e.g., Procurement, Operations, Community Management) to ensure smooth invoice flow and resolution of issues.

6. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with DHCM’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Policy, governance framework, and standards by conducting all tasks according to HSE procedures, attending mandatory training, actively reporting hazards, near misses, or incidents, and utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as identified in risk assessments.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA candidate) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role, preferably within the real estate, property management, or a related industry.
  • Proven experience with high-volume invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and relevant regulations.
  • Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Yardi, MRI) is essential.
